Bobby Morris began his career in the merchant processing industry in 1989. One year later and wearing out a lot of shoe leather, he founded Community Bankers Merchant Services (CBMS) in Shreveport, Louisiana. His first check was only $16.67. In 1996, Bobby moved the company to Springdale, AR, which is located in Northwest Arkansas, home to some of the largest companies’ in the world – Wal-Mart, Tyson, and JB Hunt.
Today, CBMS is headquartered at the Springdale Airport and has an additional office in Orlando, Florida. Mr. Morris continues to play an active role in leading the company and as a result, CBMS has continued to grow in spite of the recent volatile economy.
Mr. Morris founded the company by “Practicing the Lost Art of Customer Service.” This continues to be one of the core values on which CBMS strives to practice with all of its Partner Financial Institutions and Customers. Another core value of the company is Significance. Our desire is to bless those around us with what we have been blessed with because at the end of the day, our legacy is determined by the positive or negative impact we have on the lives we touch.
We have rapidly become a leader in the industry by fulfilling the goal we set out to achieve in our earliest days. Whether you are a merchant contemplating accepting bankcards for the first time or a business that has accepted cards for years and are looking to improve your bottom line, choosing a processor is one of the most important decisions your business can make.
In 2014, Bobby Morris made the decision to pass the torch to his son and EVP Dean Morris. For over 15 years Dean had worked within every department at CBMS. His versatility, experience and growth in knowledge were all a part of his training leading up to this transition. The family business continues on.
